Fashion Week begins…

a

So Fashion Week is in full swing for 2010. And there is a really nice, relaxed vibe around the tents this year. A little less stress, a little more fun. A good thing. After last night’s opening party, Lonely HeartsĀ kicked the week off with an off-site showing of a short film shot last week in the caves around Takapuna. Directed by the fast-rising Tim Van Dammen, the short film was effective, showcasing Lonely Hearts moody, sexy fashion to a packed to the rafters crowd. The first on-site show was Cybele this morning, and as expected, it was a big hit. Stunning fluid fashion that drapes on the body just-so, in many shades of blue. Cybele’s Winter 2010 collection is inspired by Victorian era formal collars and the sculptural qualities of flowers and insects. Very strong. This afternoon featured a joint show from Juliette Hogan and Wellington wonderkids Twenty Seven Names. Another strong show, Twenty Seven Names drew inspiration from John Lennon and Yoko Ono for this collection. They are shaping up as a serious fashion force. Great to see.
