PILOT issue #1 featured Parroquet by Norwegian born fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø. Sundsbø is regarded as one of the primary innovators in contemporary image making and is the protégé of Nick Knight. The slender, long-tailed parroquet is a natural subject for Sundsbø, whose striking fashion photography has helped define the current fashion Zeitgeist. In contrast to the fast-paced seasonal fashion calendar, the parroquet’s vibrant plumage has been refined over centuries of evolution. “These pictures grew out of a lifelong love of nature documentaries, National Geographic and my later work with fashion photography. Birds have a natural sartorial quality which in a sense is a pure form of fashion,” says Sundsbø.
French creative collective and clothing label Surface to Air have collaborated with Sølve Sundsbø and have translated three of his works onto a limited-edition set of a printed silk dress, printed silk top, and printed bag. The pieces will be available in September. Thanks to Aaron K for the link…

I’ve often admired the way Sølve Sundsbø’s name looks with those crossed ø’s….
