Earlier this year New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acappella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo held a competition to design a gig poster for the Flight of the Conchords US tour. Each poster relates to a different city on the tour. The competition attracted entries from some of America’s most talented poster artists and the band themselves chose the eventual winner, Tampa by DKNG (see via link below). I think the DKNG poster is good, but I wouldn’t have picked it as the winner myself. I love Tyler Stout’s Portland poster (below), a fantastic tribute to the Beastie Boy’s Licensed To Ill album cover and even better is legendary poster artist Aaron Horkey’s LA poster (above). It features Horkey’s trademark detail and fantastic typography in a stunning shade of pink, and hey – how good is that kiwi?

That top poster is pretty bad-ass alright.
